ERIE, Pa. – Indiana University of Pennsylvania volleyball advanced to face East Stroudsburg Warriors after sweeping Fairmont State Falcons in straight sets Thursday in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Tournament.
The match will decide which team advances =to the Atlantic Region Final. The Crimson Hawks and the Warriors split two meetings this season, with IUP winning in four sets in the regular season and East Stroudsburg earning a straight-sets victory on its home court in the PSAC Semifinals. East Stroudsburg later captured the PSAC Championship, defeating Gannon Golden Knights.
The Warriors enter the match as the No. 2 seed in the region, and IUP is the No. 3 seed. East Stroudsburg will lean on Anna Coulter, the Atlantic Region Player of the Year and an All-Region selection from the American Volleyball Coaches Association and Division II Conference Commissioners Association.
Seven sets between the teams this season were tightly contested – three decided by two points and four by four points or fewer.
The IUP-East Stroudsburg match is scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday in Erie, Pennsylvania.
