INDIANA, Pa. —The IUP men's basketball program clinched a spot in the 2025 PSAC Tournament with their 84-76 win over California (Pa.) in their final regular season home game.
With this win, IUP clinched a spot in the 2025 PSAC Tournament, which improved them to 13-14 overall and 8-11 in the conference. California (Pa.) dropped to 16-11 overall and 11-8 in the PSAC.
Kymani Merraro led the floor and notched a season best of 26 points. He made eight FG and went 8-for-8 from the free throw line. Merraro also added two steals and six assists. Christian Moore followed with 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Tyler Grove rounded out the top three scorers with 15 points.
IUP added the first few baskets highlighted by a dunk from Grove at 16:14. Through the middle of the first half, the teams traded the lead. Three IUP baskets put IUP ahead in double digits, which included a three-pointer from Sarp Furtun. Cal U added two baskets at the end to limit IUP's lead to three points.
Early in the second, Callum Macnamara added a tip-in. The Vulcans jumped to a six-point lead that was cut to one point from a three-pointer by Merraro and a jumper from Grove at 14:17. With eight minutes on the clock, Cal U jumped to a seven-point lead. The teams traded the lead and free throws for a few minutes. At 2:26, Ian Herring added a layup that gave the Hawks back the lead, 72-71. IUP's final eight points came from free throws, which secured IUP's 84-76 win over Cal u.
