WINGATE, N.C. -- The IUP women's lacrosse team fell to nationally ranked Wingate 10-5 on Thursday afternoon.
Wingate scored early in the first quarter and then Alexi Crosby responded with a goal as the clock wound down to tie the score at 1 each.
In the second quarter, Wingate pulled ahead with four unanswered goals, taking a 5-1 lead into halftime.
Emme Mass scored a goal off a free position attempt at 13:47 in the third just before Wingate went on another four goal run. At 4:03 Brenna Whiteside found the net and was assisted by Kathryn Burke to put them within six, 9-3.
In the fourth, Maggie Kilgallon scored a minute into the game and IUP's final goal came at 3:48 from Crosby, her second goal of the day. Wingate added one more goal in the fourth that sealed IUP's 10-5 defeat.
