INDIANA, Pa. -- The IUP softball program split Friday's doubleheader against Pitt-Johnstown. In between the games, the program recognized six seniors a part of the 2025 senior class.
Game oneÂ
Pitt-Johnstown scored seven unanswered runs before IUP managed to get on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Paige Truax singled to third base and advanced to second on a passed ball and third on a wild pitch. Reagan Rand and Jaycee Haidze both drew walks to load the bases. A fly out from Ruby Singleton drove in Truax while a groundout capped the inning, leaving two runners stranded. Â
The Mountain Cats added three more runs at the top of the seventh on four hits.  IUP's second and final run came in the bottom of the inning when Singleton's RBI single drove in Brianna Pusateri. Â
Game twoÂ
Madison Pikula led off with a single to shortstop and advanced to second on a groundout, while Jordan Sylvia's RBI single drove in Pikula. Rand singled but two outs finished the inning, leaving two stranded. Â
IUP scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth on four hits. Brianna Pusateri singled to left center and came around on Jaycee Haidze's double to right center. Tess Smiley pinch ran for Hadize and scored on Jess Cekadas' single to center field. Maddie Miller doubled to left center to advance Cekada to third base. Singleton's sac fly scored Cekada and advanced Miller to third, however, a fly out ended the inning. Â
In the fifth inning, Maddie Griffin led off with a single to shortstop and stole second. Rand's double scored Griffin and Pusateri's single to center field scored Rand. Â
