Women's Tennis Has Strong Showing in Day Two of CMU Invite

PITTSBURGH – The IUP women's tennis team wrapped up the CMU Invitational on Saturday in the heart of Pittsburgh. After winning four individual matches on Friday, the Crimson Hawks added six more victories on Saturday — four in singles and two in doubles.

Ifigenia Kafka rallied after dropping her first set 6-0, coming back to win the second set 6-0 and claiming the match in a tiebreak. Hannah Beitat, Charliz Tabili and Annemiek Sterk also earned singles wins.

Lea von Kozierowski battled Duquesne's Mila Badics in a tight match, taking the first set 7-5, dropping the second 6-3, and narrowly missing out in the tiebreak.

In doubles, the duo of Isabelle Oikawa Torresa and Tabili defeated a CMU pairing, while Kafka and Maria Moskaltsova secured another win for the Hawks.

IUP will return to action at the ITA Tournament, scheduled for Oct. 2–5.
