INDIANA, Pa. — IUP volleyball wrapped up the Crimson Hawk Classic with two more wins, finishing the weekend 4-0 after defeating Elizabeth City State, 3-0, and Shepherd, 3-1.
Match One
The Crimson Hawks cruised past Elizabeth City State in their first match of the day, taking the sets 25-9, 25-20 and 25-9.
IUP out-hit the Vikings 39-23, led by
Charlotte Potvin with nine kills and
Peyton Belcher with eight. The Crimson Hawks also tallied 12 service aces, marking the third straight match with double-digit aces.
Jessica Neiman led the team with four.
Match Two
The nightcap and final match of the tournament proved to be the most competitive, as IUP and Shepherd battled through four sets. The Crimson Hawks took the opening set 25-19, but the Rams responded with a 25-16 win in the second. IUP bounced back to take the final two sets, 25-19 and 15-14.
Neiman led IUP with 14 kills, while Potvin and
Delaney Concannon also posted double-digit kills. The Hawks once again finished with double-digit aces.
IUP opens PSAC West play Tuesday, traveling to Johnstown to face Pitt-Johnstown. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
