ASHLAND, Ohio – Friday gave the IUP women's volleyball team its first win of the season. Saturday gave the Hawks two more wins, with their first two match sweeps of the 2025 fall season. The Hawks defeated Ursuline and West Liberty in straight sets to improve their record to 3-1 on the season.
It was total Hawk domination against Ursuline as IUP did not let Ursuline within seven points of their final score of 25, with the first two sets ending 25-11 and 25-10. IUP spread the wealth, with nine different players recording kills, with six of them achieving multiple kills.
Ellie Rauch led the way with 14 assists. The Crimson Hawks had 13 blocks, 12 of which were block assists.
The second match of the day was somewhat closer in terms of the set scores, as the IUP won two of the three sets by five points or less. Three Hawks had double-digit kills, led by
Jessica Neiman, who had 13 on her own.
Rauch led the way with assists for the fourth consecutive match, totaling 32.
Brooke Kessler recorded 16 digs as she and Rauch combined 26 of the Hawks' 41 digs.
IUP will compete in the Walsh Tournament on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12 and 13, with three matches, including two on Saturday. The weekend will start on Friday with a 2 PM first serve against Central State in Canton, Ohio.
