SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — The Indiana University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team delivered a dominant performance Wednesday night, cruising to a 100-60 victory over Slippery Rock at Morrow Field House.
IUP (14-0, 8-0 PSAC) jumped out to an early lead and never let up, opening the game on a 29-8 run after one quarter. The Crimson Hawks continued to pour it on in the second, carrying a commanding 69-31 advantage into halftime and maintaining control throughout the second half.
Nyshae' Weaver led all scorers with 23 points on 9-of-10 shooting, adding four rebounds in the win. Teresa Maggio followed with 17 points, while Ellie Wilkerson added 15. Madison Zavasky chipped in 10 points off the bench as IUP placed five players in double figures.
The Crimson Hawks shot 63.5% from the field and connected on half of their attempts from beyond the arc. IUP also went 12 of 15 from the free-throw line and used strong rebounding and defensive pressure to create scoring opportunities in transition.
Iyanna Wade paced Slippery Rock (5-10, 3-6 PSAC) with 16 points. Kayley Joseph-Bernard finished with 11 points, including three 3-pointers, while Mairan Haggerty added 14 in the loss.
The Crimson Hawks will continue PSAC play on Saturday as the team will travel to Erie for a top-ten matchup against Gannon.
