CLARION, Pa. — Indiana University of Pennsylvania dropped a narrow 78-77 decision at Clarion in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Tippin Gymnasium.
The Crimson Hawks battled back from an early deficit and had multiple chances late but came up just short in a tightly contested conference matchup.
Clarion built momentum in the opening quarter and led by as many as seven points in the second half. IUP responded with steady scoring and strong free-throw shooting to pull within one possession several times down the stretch.
Ellie Wilkerson led IUP with 18 points, while Nyshae' Weaver added 17. Belle Bosch finished with 14 points and Teresa Maggio scored 11 for the Crimson Hawks, who shot 45.8% from the field and went 19 of 24 from the free-throw line.
Arianna Seitz paced Clarion with 18 points. Zoe Guice scored 13 and Kendall Berger added 12 for the Golden Eagles, who shot 43.8% from the floor and made 10 3-pointers.
The teams traded leads throughout the second half, with neither side able to create separation. IUP had opportunities in the final minute but was unable to convert on its final possessions.
