IUP Holds Off Millersville, 80-77

INDIANA, Pa. -- Indiana University of Pennsylvania built a sizable first-half lead and withstood a late push from Millersville to earn an 80-77 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference victory Saturday at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex.

The Crimson Hawks led 50-36 at halftime after shooting efficiently and controlling the pace early. Millersville closed the gap in the second half, cutting the deficit to one possession in the final minute, but IUP made key free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Dallis Dillard led IUP with 18 points, seven assists and four steals. Christian Moore added 17 points, while Kymani Merraro finished with 13 to give the Crimson Hawks three players in double figures.

Millersville was led by Day Waters, who scored 25 points and knocked down four 3-pointers. Aamir Hurst added 13 points, and Eleazar Matthews-Spratley chipped in nine for the Marauders.

IUP finished shooting 41.8 percent from the field and connected on 10 3-pointers. Millersville shot 47.2 percent overall and went 9 of 24 from beyond the arc, but the Crimson Hawks' execution at the foul line in the closing moments proved decisive.
