Maggs earns PSAC West Offensive Athlete of the Week honors

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – A career day for IUP redshirt senior quarterback Mason Maggs earned him his first PSAC West Offensive Athlete of the Week honor, the conference announced Monday.

Maggs played a key role in keeping the Crimson Hawks undefeated, throwing for a career-high 369 yards and four touchdowns in IUP's 46-44 double-overtime victory at Edinboro.

The quarterback completed 19 of 28 passes for a 67.9% completion rate. His longest completion went for 58 yards, just two yards shy of his season-long reception.

The four-touchdown performance matched Maggs' season high and marked the third time through five games that he has thrown four touchdown passes.

Maggs delivered when IUP needed him most in the second overtime, connecting with Gavin Harrold for a 25-yard touchdown before finding D'Avay Johnson for the game-winning two-point conversion.

Through five games, Maggs has thrown a PSAC-best 17 touchdown passes compared to just three interceptions. His 17 passing touchdowns are four more than the next-closest quarterback in the conference.

Maggs also ranks among the top three in the PSAC in passing efficiency and passing yards per game while helping lead IUP to an undefeated start.
