INDIANA, Pa. — The Indiana University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team used a strong second half to pull away from Clarion University for a 96-75 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference victory Saturday afternoon at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex.
IUP (20-4, 14-3 PSAC) led 41-32 at halftime before erupting for 55 second-half points to secure the win.
Dallis Dillard poured in a game-high 29 points to lead the Crimson Hawks. He shot 10-for-20 from the field, including three 3-pointers, and added eight rebounds and six assists in an all-around performance. Christian Moore followed with 21 points, while Tyler Grove contributed 15 as IUP placed three players in double figures.
The Crimson Hawks shot 50 percent from the floor and 40.6 percent from beyond the arc. IUP also converted 92.9 percent of its free throws and used defensive pressure to generate transition opportunities throughout the afternoon.
Clarion (12-14, 7-11 PSAC) was led by Gavin Cote with 22 points and Jeremy Thomas II with 17, but the Golden Eagles were unable to overcome IUP's balanced scoring attack and second-half surge.
The win strengthens IUP's position in the PSAC standings as the Crimson Hawks continue conference play.
