Dillard Scores 23 as IUP Falls at California (Pa.), 78-60

CALIFORNIA, Pa.Dallis Dillard scored 23 points, but IUP dropped a 78-60 decision to California (Pa.) in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West game Wednesday night at the Convocation Center.

The Crimson Hawks (20-5, 14-4 PSAC) trailed 36-28 at halftime and were unable to close the gap in the second half as the Vulcans (19-7, 16-3) pulled away.

Dillard led IUP with 23 points on 9-of-19 shooting, including three 3-pointers, and added four assists and five rebounds. Christian Moore finished with 10 points and five assists, while Damir Brooks contributed eight points and six rebounds. Kymani Merraro and Bautista Rodriguez added six points each.

IUP shot 31.3 percent from the field (21 for 67) and 24.2 percent from 3-point range (8 for 33), while California (Pa.) shot 53.8 percent (28 for 52). The Vulcans also held a slight 38-37 rebounding edge and finished with 17 assists.

Dalman Alexander led California (Pa.) with 19 points, while Bryson Lucas recorded 18 points and 12 rebounds. Jordyn Buchanan added 18 points, including four 3-pointers, and Brayden Reynolds totaled nine points and six assists.

The Crimson Hawks kept the game close early before California (Pa.) used an efficient offensive performance to build a second-half advantage.

IUP returns to action Saturday to close out the regular season.
