IUP Outlasts Fairmont State in 11 Innings for Ninth Win in 10 Games

FAIRMONT, West Virginia — Indiana (Pa.) baseball earned its ninth win in the last 10 games with an 11-inning, one-run victory over Fairmont State in a nonconference road matchup.

The Falcons struck first, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning, but IUP settled in and allowed just one run the rest of the way.

Braydon May made the start for the Crimson Hawks, pitching four innings. All three runs he allowed were unearned.

Five relievers combined to cover the final seven innings, with Anthony Alberty earning the win after tossing the final two innings.

IUP broke through in the 11th inning when Ricardo Aponte delivered a sacrifice fly to score Teague Hoover with the game-winning run. Aponte finished with two hits and an RBI.

Camden Rhude, Jake Wadell and Alex VanSickle each recorded multiple hits for the Crimson Hawks, who showed patience at the plate with 13 walks compared to just five strikeouts. Anthony Annichine drew three walks from the No. 2 spot in the lineup, while eight of the nine starters reached via walk.

On the mound, IUP pitchers struck out six and allowed just seven hits. All but one of Fairmont State's runs were unearned.
