INDIANA, Pa. – The Indiana (Pa.) women's tennis team opened its defense of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference title with a home victory over Seton Hill Griffins at the Maple Street Courts.
IUP dominated the match, winning all nine points, including two by walkover.
Seton Hill competed with just five players, leaving the Griffins without competitors at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
Annemiek Sterk and Maria Miskaltsova built on momentum from their comeback win Friday, while Hannah Beitat and Asel Calbay returned to the win column with quick victories, each finishing in 21 minutes.
The only singles match to extend beyond straight sets came at No. 4, where Hannah Beitat defeated Alycia Derr 6-1, 7-5.
The Crimson Hawks continue their three-match homestand Wednesday, April 1, when they host Edinboro Fighting Scots on Maple Street.
