WISE, Va. — The Indiana (Pa.) women's tennis team opened its Spring Break trip in dominant fashion with a 7-0 victory over University of Virginia's College at Wise.
The Crimson Hawks claimed all three doubles matches and swept the six singles contests to complete the shutout.
In doubles play, IUP secured two 6-4 victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, while Isabelle Oikawa Torres and Charliz Tabili cruised to a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles.
Singles competition featured several strong performances for the Crimson Hawks. Ifigenia Kafka battled through a three-set match at No. 5 singles, winning the first set 6-2 before dropping the second 7-5 and closing out the match with a 10-8 tiebreak victory. Lea von Kozierowski secured the No. 1 singles point after University of Virginia's College at Wise's Kenzy Abdelaal retired during the match.
IUP will continue its Spring Break schedule Monday in Hilton Head, where the Crimson Hawks will face Chowan University and Thomas More University.
