IUP Women Earn No. 1 Seed, Set to Host NCAA Atlantic Regional

INDIANA, Pa. — The basketball world will turn its attention to Indiana as the Indiana (Pa.) women's basketball team earned the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic Region and will host the NCAA Regional inside the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.

The Crimson Hawks secured the top seed after defeating the Gannon Golden Knights in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship on Sunday afternoon. The victory marked IUP's fourth win over a Top 25 opponent this season and their second victory over Gannon on its home floor.

Regional games will take place Friday, March 13, Saturday, March 14, and Monday, March 16, with the winner advancing to the national quarterfinals.

IUP enters the tournament with a 26-3 overall record and a dominant 14-1 mark inside the KCAC this season.

The Crimson Hawks are led by Nyshae' Weaver, who was named PSAC Athlete of the Year, along with Craig Carey, the PSAC Coach of the Year. All-PSAC selections Teresa Maggio and Ellie Wilkerson have also played key roles in the Crimson Hawks' success this season.

Maggio was named the PSAC Tournament Most Valuable Player after averaging 18.5 points across two games while shooting 7-for-11 from three-point range.

The winner of the Atlantic Regional will advance to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse on the campus of Duquesne University.
