WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — Indiana (Pa.) split a nonconference doubleheader against West Liberty on Wednesday, dropping the opener 2-1 before rebounding with a 15-11 victory in Game 2.
In the first game, a pitchers' duel limited Indiana to just two hits in a 1-0 loss. Madison Pikula and Maddie Griffin each recorded a hit for the Crimson Hawks, who left six runners on base and committed two errors.
Game 2 was a different story, as Indiana erupted for eight runs in the first inning and finished with 19 hits in the 15-0 win.
Reagan Rand highlighted the offensive explosion with a home run and four RBIs. Jess Cekada paced the lineup with two hits and two RBIs, while Maddie Griffin added two hits and drove in three runs. Madison Pikula contributed two hits and an RBI at the top of the order.
Indiana also received multi-hit performances from several others in the lineup, as the Crimson Hawks scored in four different innings and capitalized on early momentum.
With the split, Indiana moved to 23-17 on the season.
The Crimson Hawks will travel to Clarion on Friday, followed by a massive PSAC West Matchup at Podbielski Field as the No. 1 team in the West standings in Slippery Rock pay the Hawks a visit.
