IUP Women’s Tennis Finishes Season Ranked No. 2 in Atlantic Region

INDIANA, Pa. — IUP women's tennis continued to establish itself among the elite programs in Division II tennis this season, finishing the year ranked No. 2 in the Atlantic Region in the final ITA regional rankings released Wednesday.

The Crimson Hawks advanced to the NCAA Round of 16 after capturing the Atlantic Regional Pod Championship in Indiana with a victory over Charleston (WV), capping another historic season for the program.

IUP also saw five singles players and two doubles pairings earn spots in the regional rankings, further highlighting the depth and balance that powered the Crimson Hawks throughout the 2026 campaign.

Leading the way in singles was junior Lea von Kozierowski, who earned the No. 2 singles ranking in the Atlantic Region after anchoring the lineup at No. 1 singles all season.

Von Kozierowski finished the year 21-11 overall and went 8-1 in PSAC matches. During the season, she pieced together a dominant stretch of 15 consecutive singles victories, excluding unfinished matches, while consistently facing the top competition in the region.

Sophomore Asel Calbay was ranked No. 5 in the region after posting a 15-11 singles record. Calbay finished the year strong, winning four of her final five matches while contributing heavily in conference play.

Maria Moskaltsova came in at No. 8 in the regional rankings following a standout junior season that earned her first-team All-PSAC honors. Moskaltsova went 19-8 overall and won 70 percent of her singles matches, including a stretch of 13 consecutive victories. She also delivered the clinching win in the Atlantic Regional Pod Championship match.

Freshman Charliz Tabili immediately emerged as one of the top newcomers in the region and was ranked No. 12 in singles play. The PSAC Freshman of the Year finished 17-9 at the No. 4 singles spot and won 12 of her final 15 matches to close the season.

Rounding out the singles rankings was Ifigeneia Kafka at No. 15. Kafka produced one of the most consistent seasons on the roster, finishing 20-7 overall while going undefeated in PSAC singles play. She also won 14 of her final 15 matches during the season.

In doubles competition, the pairing of Annemiek Sterk and Moskaltsova earned the No. 3 doubles ranking in the Atlantic Region.

The duo helped anchor an IUP lineup that captured the doubles point in all but one match throughout the season.

At No. 9 in the doubles rankings was the tandem of Hannah Beitat and Calbay, who combined for 16 victories together at No. 2 doubles. Since the beginning of April, the pair lost to just two opponents while helping power the Crimson Hawks during their postseason run.

The final rankings capped a season that included a program-record 15-match winning streak, another PSAC West regular-season title and a return trip to the NCAA Round of 16.
