LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – A pair of IUP student-athletes earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week honors following standout performances last week.

Football's Gavin Mentzer was named the PSAC West Special Teams Athlete of the Week, while women's soccer midfielder Kat Morgan earned PSAC West Athlete of the Week honors. Both are the first Crimson Hawks from their respective teams to earn a conference weekly honor this season.

Mentzer flips the field against West Chester

Mentzer played a key role in IUP's 27-21 overtime victory at West Chester, consistently flipping field position for the Crimson Hawks.

The IUP punter and kickoff specialist recorded seven punts in the victory, highlighted by a career-long 66-yard boot. He also handled three kickoffs for the Crimson Hawks.

Through the first two games of the season, Mentzer is averaging 45 yards per punt with four attempts downed inside the 20-yard line. He has also recorded two punts of at least 50 yards.

Mentzer's performance helped IUP improve to 2-0 following consecutive road victories over Ashland and West Chester.

Morgan records first career brace

Morgan provided all of IUP's scoring in a 2-2 draw against Clarion on Saturday, recording the first two-goal performance of her collegiate career.

The junior midfielder scored once in each half, including the equalizer in the 74th minute to help the Crimson Hawks secure a point in PSAC play.

Morgan recorded six of her eight shots this season across IUP's two matches last week, putting five of those six attempts on goal.

She posted season highs in both shots and shots on goal against Clarion, finishing the match with four attempts and placing all four on target.
