Women's Tennis Posts 19-4 Mark at Rain-Shortened Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – IUP women's tennis put together a dominant showing at the Bucknell Invitational, posting a 19-4 overall record during the rain-shortened event.

Originally scheduled as a two-day tournament, Sunday's competition was washed out by rain, leaving Saturday as the lone day of action. The Crimson Hawks made the most of it, going 13-2 in singles and 6-2 in doubles.

Senior Hannah Beitat, sophomore Charliz Tabili and freshman Chia Ying Lu were among the Crimson Hawks to pick up singles victories, with three of IUP's wins requiring extra points.

Lea Von Kozierowski, Elina Mondani, Isabelle Oikawa Torres, Tabili, Lu and Beitat each finished 2-0 in singles action. Asel Calbay and Ifigeneia Kafka split their singles matches.

IUP also posted a strong 6-2 record in doubles competition.

The new pairing of Oikawa Torres and Von Kozierowski went unbeaten at 2-0, while Tabili and Kafka also swept their opponents.

The experienced combination of Mondani and Beitat split its two matches, while another new pairing of Lu and Calbay also went 1-1.
