LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – IUP continues to be well represented in the PSAC Athlete of the Week awards, with two more Crimson Hawks earning weekly honors following standout performances over the weekend.
IUP junior middle blocker Charlotte Potvin and sophomore defensive back Devon Bertrand were each named PSAC Athletes of the Week.
Potvin put together one of the best weekends of her career, recording 28 kills on 46 attempts across a pair of IUP victories. She highlighted the weekend with a season-best .636 hitting percentage in a four-set victory over Slippery Rock on Friday.
Potvin also made her presence felt defensively at the net, totaling 10.5 blocks across nine sets, including five solo blocks. Her five solo blocks over the weekend doubled her season total entering the two matches.
The Crimson Hawks defeated Slippery Rock in four sets Friday before outlasting Clarion in five sets Saturday, extending their winning streak to 10 matches.
Potvin becomes the second IUP volleyball player to earn PSAC Athlete of the Week honors this season, joining outside hitter Delaney Concannon.
Bertrand played a key role in another dominant defensive performance for the IUP football team in Saturday's 35-7 victory over Seton Hill at Miller Stadium.
The sophomore defensive back recorded eight tackles, including six solo stops, while forcing a fumble and adding a pass breakup. Bertrand also recorded a tackle for loss that dropped the Griffins five yards.
IUP's defense did not surrender a touchdown in the victory, with Seton Hill's only score coming on special teams. The Crimson Hawks limited the Griffins to 11 first downs and 222 yards of total offense while forcing four turnovers.
Bertrand's honor gives IUP the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week after linebacker Tai'don Strickland earned the award following the Crimson Hawks' victory at Shippensburg.
