INDIANA, Pa. – IUP volleyball completed a perfect weekend at the Crimson Hawk Classic on Saturday, defeating Lake Erie and Daemen to finish its home tournament with a 4-0 record.
The Crimson Hawks swept West Liberty and defeated Ashland in four sets Friday before returning to the KCAC on Saturday to sweep Lake Erie and close the tournament with a four-set victory over Daemen.
IUP 3, Lake Erie 0
IUP opened Saturday with a straight-set victory over Lake Erie, battling to a two-point win in the opening set before taking control over the final two frames with wins by nine and 11 points.
The Crimson Hawks held a 43-23 advantage in kills and added four blocks. Lake Erie totaled 106 attack attempts but hit just .113 as IUP's defense kept the ball off the floor with 55 digs.
Senior Delaney Concannon led the Crimson Hawks with 15 digs, while junior Brooke Kessler added 14 as the duo combined for 29.
Middle blocker Charlotte Potvin led the IUP attack with 11 kills, finishing as the lone Crimson Hawk in double figures.
IUP also received strong production from its setters, finishing with 40 assists. Ellie Rauch and Maddie Zechman combined to average more than 10 assists per set.
IUP 3, Daemen 1
The Crimson Hawks closed the tournament with another strong offensive performance, recording 58 kills in a four-set victory over Daemen.
After dropping the opening set, IUP responded by winning three straight, 25-20, 25-19 and 25-18, to complete its unbeaten weekend.
Concannon powered the attack with 19 kills, finishing one shy of her season high. IUP hit .210 as a team and finished the weekend with a .219 hitting percentage on 1,221 attempts this season, ranking fourth in the PSAC.
Jasmine Sires provided a dominant presence at the net, recording a season-high 10 total blocks, including eight block assists. The Crimson Hawks finished with 11 total blocks as a team.
Zechman and Rauch continued to facilitate the IUP offense, combining for 46 assists as the Crimson Hawks recorded 53 in the match.
Defensively, IUP held Daemen to a .065 hitting percentage on 170 attack attempts. The Wildcats had just one player reach double figures in kills.

IUP travels to Shepherdstown, West Virginia, for a PSAC crossover on Sept. 11. The Crimson Hawks face Shepherd at 1 p.m. before taking on Millersville at 3 p.m.
IUP defeated Shepherd in the PSAC quarterfinals last season. The Crimson Hawks have not faced Millersville since 2019, when the Marauders won the most recent meeting. IUP holds a 14-6 advantage in the all-time series.
