Biography

Career Stats (entering 2010 season): Has scored 201 points on a school-record 31 field goals in 41 attempts and 108 of 109 in extra point tries...has an active streak of 91 consecutive extra points made…needs only 42 points to break Josh Telenko’s school record for career scoring by a kicker and ranks 10th in scoring regardless of position…stands third in IUP history for most extra points made and first in percentage.

2009: Made 9 of his 11 field goal attempts and all 32 of his extra points to lead the team with 59 points…named one of 10 finalists for the Fred Mitchell Outstanding Placekicker Award, an honor that covers all of Division II and Division III football…five of his field goals were 40 yards or longer, including a 43-yarder vs. Lock Haven that matched his career best…connected from 40 and 41 yards out vs. Kutztown in the season finale, the latter coming with five seconds left to give IUP a 34-32 victory…added field goals of 40 yards vs. C.W. Post and 41 vs. Edinboro…his field goal vs. the Fighting Scots gave him a school-record 11 straight successful 3-pointers. 

2008: Connected on 16 of 22 field goal attempts and was perfect in 46 extra point tries to give him 94 points, the top mark in the PSAC, while his average of 9.4 points per game placed him 14th in the nation…also ranked second in the country with an average of 1.6 field goals made per game…tied a school record with four field goals vs. Gannon and made three vs. Slippery Rock…hit from 43 yards out vs. Clarion to established a career long that he matched the following year…added 42- and 41-yarders vs. California…set a school record with nine extra points vs. both Millersville and Clarion. 

2007: Made 6 of 8 field goal attempts and 30 of 31 extra point tries during his first season at IUP after transferring from Cincinnati…led the PSAC with his 96.8 percent accuracy on PATs…connected on a pair of field goals vs. Shippensburg and had a season-long 36-yarder vs. Edinboro…had a field goal and made all five of his PATs vs. Cheyney…also had 3-pointers vs. California and Lock Haven. 

High School: A 2006 graduate of Highlands High School…set a program record with a 43-yard field goal during his senior season…competitive weightlifter who won national and Junior Olympic bench press championships. 

Personal: Born Jan. 1, 1988…son of Rick and Lori Burgess…majoring in sports administration.
