PSAC Championship History

Welcome to IUP and the 2013 PSAC Swimming Championships
I could not be more pleased to welcome swimmers, coaches, and parents to the 2013 PSAC Championship hosted by IUP.
Swimming at IUP has a long and successful history. We were pleased that one of our own, Jackie Hynson, won a national championship last year, but we actually are just as proud of the fact that 21 of our swimmers were named scholar athletes. They represent our university well through scholastics and volunteering in the community, as well as excelling in the pool. I also am proud to boast that they are typical of athletes from other IUP teams and our various student leaders.
The swimming meet is being held at the Cumberland Valley High School Natatorium in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Here on the campus of IUP, our swimmers compete in the John A. Pidgeon Natatorium, named for a late volunteer coach who also endowed a scholarship for IUP swimmers. While everyone wants to win the championship—and winning a championship is most definitely important--Mr. Pidgeon would have told you the competition needs to be fun. I wish all our competitors the best of luck in this meet, and, by all means, enjoy this special event in your lives.
Sincerely,
Michael A. Driscoll
IUP President
