Pidgeon Natatorium | IUP Athletic Hall of Fame
A native of Massachusetts, John (Jack) Pidgeon was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a graduate of Bowdoin College. He held honorary doctoral degrees from Bethany College and Washington and Jefferson College.
Pidgeon retired from the headmaster position at the prestigious Kiski School in 2002 after 45 years of service. In addition to his work as headmaster at Kiski, he also taught English and coached several sports teams and numerous prep school All-American swimmers.
In 2005, Pidgeon was inducted into the IUP Athletic Hall of Fame. On February 6, 2010, the complex was dedicated and renamed the John A. Pidgeon Natatorium, after the former IUP volunteer swimming coach.
