Crimson & Gray Awards: Athlete of the Year

The IUP Athlete of the Year is given each year to the men's and women's student-athletes, regardless of class eligibility, who had the best individual seasons.

Starting with the 2012-13 season, the award was voted on by fans in a bracket-style format with one winner (Johnny Franco). For the 2013-14 season, both men's and women's Athletes of the Year were named, with fan voting eliminated. That format ran for three years before the expansion and announcement of the Crimson and Gray Awards in 2017.

In the eight years of existence, 11 different sports have won the 15 possible Athlete of the Year awards with football (2013, 2018, 2020), men's basketball (2016, 2019) and women's basketball (2015, 2019) the only repeat programs.
