Prospective student-athlete tryouts
Each NCAA varsity sport at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) is responsible for its own tryouts in any given year or season. Not all of our teams will hold tryouts and some will not hold tryouts every year. Teams holding tryouts will publicize date(s) and location(s).
If a team at IUP is holding open tryouts and you are interested in participating, please review the following:
- If you are currently enrolled at IUP you must be registered as a full-time student and be in good academic standing.
- Non-IUP prospective student-athletes must be outside of the traditional playing season for your sport.
- All prospective student-athletes must have completed all required medical forms.
- Please contact the Certified Athletic Trainer listed below that works with your sport. They can help guide you on where to find the medical paperwork for the upcoming academic year.
- Please contact the head coach of your sport to notify them you are trying out. You can find a full list of contact information on our staff directory.
- All prospective student-athletes looking to tryout must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center at some point during the tryout process before they can officially be a member of the team.
- On the day(s) of your tryout, please bring items/equipment needed for your sport. Example: bat, glove/mitt, spikes/turf shoes, appropriate clothing, etc. You can also choose to bring your own replenishments (water/fluids, food).
Current tryouts for 2024-25:
- Softball: Thursday, August 29 at Ruth Podbielski Field on IUP's South Campus. All medical paperwork must be submitted to Jamie D'Andrea (J.R.DAndrea@iup.edu) by Monday, August 26.
- Information Meeting: Monday, August 26 | HUB Conemaugh Room | 4:00 p.m.
