Kelbi Berg enters his fifth year as an assistant coach for the IUP baseball program in 2021. He served as a student assistant from 2015-17 and returned as a volunteer assistant for the 2020 season.Â
He works alongside Anthony Zambotti with the pitching staff.Â
As a student-athlete, Berg had stints at LaRoche College and the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown before a shoulder injury put a halt to his collegiate playing career. Shortly after, he began his coaching career at his scholastic alma mater, Chestnut Ridge, in 2010.
In 2012, he was promoted to head assistant coach at Chestnut Ridge before being named head coach in 2016. In his first year as head coach, he led the Lions to a 13-7 record and a berth in the District 6-AA playoffs.
As a coach at IUP in 2017, Berg helped oversee a pitching staff that lead the Crimson Hawks back to the PSAC Championship Tournament for the first time in six seasons.Â
Berg earned his undergraduate degree from IUP in spring 2017 in sports administration with a minor in business.
