Tayler Sheriff

  • Title
    Student Assistant
Tayler Sheriff enters his first year as a volunteer student assistant coach for the Crimson hawks.  Sheriff will assist with the IUP pitching staff along with all recruiting efforts.

Sheriff comes from Clarion University, where he spent one year as a student-athlete for the Golden Eagles before a shoulder injury put an end to his playing career.  After the injury, he decided to pursue coaching, first serving as an assistant coach at his scholastic alma mater, United High School.

He then jumped into the collegiate summer league ranks and has served as head coach in the AAABA (All-American Amateur Baseball Association) in Johnstown, PA with Paul Carpenters Capital Advisors.  During his time as head coach in Johnstown, he saw his team reach two consecutive AAABA National Tournament Championship games (2016, 2017), which was the first time in 73 years that a Johnstown franchise has accomplished this feat.

Sheriff will graduate from IUP in spring 2018 with a bachelors in Sports Administration, a minor in Business along with a certificate in coaching.
