Tim Zetts

Tim Zetts begins his first season on the IUP football coaching staff as the running backs coach in 2011. He comes to the Crimson Hawks after spending the 2010 season with PSAC West rival Cal as the offensive quality control coach.

While with the Vulcans, Zetts worked closely with offensive coordinator Walt Harris, former head coach at both Pitt and Stanford. Zetts was involved in weekly game planning, helped create a west coast-style playbook, assisted with the offensive line and running backs, and recruited the Northeast Ohio region.

Prior to Cal, Zetts served as an offensive student assistant and assistant quarterback coach at Akron in 2008 and 2009. While a member of the Zips coaching staff, he worked with Harris and Joe Moorhead and also served as the game day signal caller and was the strength and conditioning coach during summer workouts.

Zetts graduated from Akron in 2009 with a Bachelor’s degree in business and organization communications. He was a backup quarterback when the Zips won the Mid American Conference title in 2005, before leaving in 2007 to compete for the starting job at Saginaw Valley State. He returned to Akron in 2008 after an ACL tear to begin his coaching career.
