Ryan Rebholz enters his 12th year as the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) Sports Information Director in the fall of 2022. He is the media contact for the athletic department, the director of athletic communications for IUPAthletics.com, and manages the branding, visual design, promotion and publicity for the Crimson Hawks' 19 varsity sports.

Formerly holding the title of Sports Information Director when he started at IUP in July 2011, Rebholz was given the new title of Director of Strategic Communications and Ideation for the athletics department in May 2021.

In the summer of 2019, in conjunction with the department's apparel deal with Nike and BSN Sports, he was given additional responsibility of brand manager for IUP Athletics.

Rebholz manages the athletic department's social media efforts, including its 15 official Twitter accounts that combine for over 38,000 followers. The main athletic Twitter handle (@IUPCrimsonHawk) is one of the most popular accounts in Division II with nearly 12,000 followers, while the popular @IUPfootball account numbers at nearly 10,000 followers, more than most athletic department accounts in the PSAC. Rebholz implemented a departmental Twitter rebrand in the Summer of 2015, bringing each sport's handle under his direction, and creating accounts for sports lacking one.

While at IUP, Rebholz has covered many nationally-ranked teams, including the men's basketball, women's basketball, and football programs, which are consistently ranked in top 25 polls and land on ESPN 3 and CBS Sports broadcasts. The IUP men's basketball team has won six PSAC tournament championships, 11 regular season divisional titles, and has appeared in two NCAA Division II Championship games in the last 13 years. Rebholz has been the director of communications for three NCAA Atlantic Region tournaments, as IUP earned the No. 1 seed and hosting rights in 2019, 2020 and 2022. He has covered IUP regional titles and Elite Eight runs in 2015 and 2022.

The IUP women's basketball program is currently on a historical run, most recently winning the PSAC West for the third straight season while earning the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic Region for the NCAA tournament in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic ended sports in March. Rebholz covered the Crimson Hawks during back-to-back regional title, Elite Eight runs with trips to Sioux Falls, S.D. and Columbus, Ohio in 2018 and 2019, respectively. In 2018-19, IUP spent 15 of the 18 national poll releases inside the top-5, the most of any team in Division II, including a three-week stint at No. 1.

Rebholz has covered an IUP football team that is coming off one of the best decades in its storied history. The Crimson Hawks went a combined 90-28 with four 10-win seasons and five trips to the NCAA Division II playoffs (2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019). The 2017 season was the program's best this century, as IUP finished 13-1 with a conference title and was the top-ranked team in the national semifinals.

Rebholz has also served as the host for several Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and NCAA Division II postseason events, including historic dual responsibility for both the men's and women's basketball Atlantic Region Championships in 2020. He's hosted conference basketball championship weekends in 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022, and the league football championship in 2012. He also served as the host sports information director for seven NCAA Division II women's tennis regional championships and has covered 21 conference championship teams, 20 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 31 PSAC Champion Scholars, and two NCAA Division II national championship swimmers.

He has developed relationships with local media in Renda Broadcasting (WQMU 92.5 FM and 1160 WCCS) and the Indiana Gazette, which cover the IUP football, and men's and women's basketball programs. He also works closely with the IUP communications media department to provide online streaming of home events throughout the year.

In the spring of 2017, Rebholz launched the Crimson & Gray Awards, an award program that celebrates IUP's top athletes, coaches, and teams, and performances each year. The inaugural Crimson & Gray Awards after the 2016-17 year had nine awards and a combined 18 winners (men and women).

Rebholz also serves on the IUP Athletics Hall of Fame, President's Athletic Advisory Council, and Homecoming committees, and serves as a guest lecturer on "Personal Branding" for an IUP freshman student-athletes experience course.

Rebholz came to IUP from Wilkes University, an NCAA Division III school in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. that competes in the Middle Atlantic Conference. He was with Wilkes for the 2010-11 year, heading a sports information department that covered 16 intercollegiate programs.

During his one year there, Rebholz coordinated media coverage for football’s 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southeast Bowl Championship; wrestling’s Wilkes Open; men’s basketball’s Wilkes-Barre Challenge; as well as the 2011 men’s and women’s tennis conference championship and NCAA participant teams.

He secured the radio contract for Colonels' men's and women's basketball, obtained hotel sponsorship for Wilkes Athletics, and began the creation process for athletic department uniform and apparel guidelines.

Prior to Wilkes, Rebholz spent the 2009-10 year at Bloomsburg University in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference as the Intern/Assistant Sports Information Director. There, he assisted with the publicity of the Huskies’ 20 varsity programs, acting as the main media contact for football as well as men’s and women’s basketball.

He also aided in the hosting responsibilities of the 2010 NCAA Division II Softball Regionals and Super Regionals, covering Bloomsburg as the Huskies advanced to the championship round in St. Joseph, Missouri.

A 2004 graduate of Mount Union College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Rebholz earned his Master’s degree from East Stroudsburg University in December 2009 after serving as the graduate assistant in the sports information office for the 2008-09 season.

After graduating from Mount Union, Rebholz was the Research Assistant in the Archives and Information Center at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio for three-and-a-half years. It was there that he worked with several national outlets, including ESPN and the NFL Network, along with various regional media outlets for the annual Hall of Fame Enshrinement and Game.

Rebholz is a member of CoSIDA and has attended the 2010, 2011 and 2012 ECAC-SIDA conventions in Cape Cod, Mass., Rochester, N.Y., and Pittsburgh, respectively.

He is married to the former Karen Hicks (IUP '99), and they reside in Zelienople, Pa. with their son, Jackson.
