2012-13 (at Drake): Played in 17 of Drake’s 32 games before suffering a season-ending hand injury … averaged 2.7 points and 1.6 rebounds in 7.4 minutes … shot 62.5 percent (15-of-24) from the field … provided clutch contributions in the win over Creighton with a career-high 12 points and five rebounds in 19 minutes ... has provided significant minutes the last 10 games with 4.0 points per game and seven offensive rebounds ... had a career-high seven points and five rebounds at Bradley ... played significant first half minutes against Iowa State and recorded a then career-high five points and three rebounds ... had two points in eight minutes on a pair of free throws against William Jewell ... was 3-of-3 from the field and finished with nine points and five boards in the exhibition against SBU.
High School: Ugbede helped lead Junipero Serra to a 31-3 record in 2011-12, and the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section 4AA crown. He scored 32 points in the championship game against a LaVerne Lutheran team led by McDonald’s All-American Grant Jarrett. A native of Nigeria who moved to the United States before his junior year, Ugbede averaged 15.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game as a senior and was named All-CIF. He was named by the South Bay Daily Breeze as boys basketball Player of the Year for 2012, and served as co-captain for the Cavaliers. Ugbede was named MVP of the Las Vegas Tournament and Del Rey League MVP, and also was a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.
