Josh Huger enters his first season as the assistant coach for the IUP men's and women's swimming programs in the 2012-13 winter season.
Huger served as a volunteer assistant coach for the swimming program last season and has served as the head coach of the IUP Swim Club since August 2010.
While coaching at IUP, he served as the recruiting coordinator and assisted with the program’s recruiting efforts.
He has coached swimming at The United States Naval Academy (June 2012), The University of Texas’ Longhorn Swim Camp (June-July 2012), Virginia Zone Swimming (August 2011 and 2012) and the Rappahannock Area YMCA (May 2010-August 2011).
Huger is the owner and operator of SwimUtopia.com, a website that provides college, high school, club, YMCA, masters and general swimming news. He has done video tours at Division I, II and III institutions including the University of Maryland, The U.S. Naval Academy and George Mason University.
He also provided media coverage of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials and provides videos, results and news on the site daily. He has written articles for CollegeSwimmingAwards.com and in 2011, he was selected to participate in the NCAA Career in Sports Forum.
Huger earned both his bachelor’s degree in sport administration from IUP in 2011 and his master’s degree in sports studies in 2012.
While studying at IUP, Huger was a member of the swim team and swam from 2007-2012.
