Brad Henry enters his fifth year as a volunteer assistant coach for the IUP women's basketball program in 2020-21. Henry works with the coaching staff and assists in the daily operation of the basketball office and works with the coaching staff on budgeting, travel, and scheduling.
He's helped the Crimson Hawks to two straight Atlantic Region Championships and trips to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight, two PSACÂ tournament championships, two PSAC West regular season titles, and 112 wins in his previous four years on the IUP bench.Â
Henry has been on staff for the three most successful seasons - 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2019-20 - in program history. In 2018 the Crimson Hawks finished with a 30-4 overall record and advanced to the national semifinals of the Elite Eight for the first time in program history. IUP won the Atlantic Region Championship in Richmond – its second ever regional title – and finished as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division regular season champs.
IUP's 30 victories set a new program record, as did its .882 win percentage. The Crimson Hawks extended their record to 21 consecutive home victories (which began last season) and tied the program record with 20 conference victories. They also finished the year No. 3 in the WBCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.Â
IUP put together an even better season in 2018-19, winning the regular season division title, the program's sixth PSAC tournament championship, and won the Atlantic Region to advance to the Elite Eight for the second straight time. The Crimson Hawks finished as national semifinalists for the second straight time and tied its record with 30 victories.Â
IUP finished the season ranked No. 4 in the WBCA Coaches Poll and broke single season program records for points (2,581), field goals made (997), field goal percentage (.480), defensive field goal percentage (.345), 3-point percentage (.380), defensive 3-point percentage (.268) and assists (605).
Henry works full-time at IUP in the Office of Housing, Residential Living, and Dining. He has worked in OHRLD since July 2015.
Coach Henry earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Slippery Rock University in 2013 and earned a Master of Science Degree from SRU in 2014.
