Former Limestone All-American Marissa Pesce is in her third season as an Assistant coach with the IUP Women’s lacrosse program. At IUP, Pesce has helped strengthen a Crimson Hawks Defense that included First-team and Third-team All Conference selections in the 2010-2011 season. The IUP Women’s Lacrosse team was also named to the IWLCA Academic Squad in 2010-11, which recognized 16 schools in Division II with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
As a player, Pesce was named Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Second-Team All American in 2006 and 2007, and First-team All American in 2008. She was also named Conference Carolinas Player of the Year in 2008. Pesce’s accolades also include First-team All-Conference and First-team All Region honors in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008; including MVP All-Tournament honors in 2006. In addition, Pesce made two appearances in 2006 and 2008 as an NCAA Semi-finalist, and was published with NCAA Double-A-Zone for a blog that illustrated the solidarity of a student athlete in 2008.
Pesce finished her career as one of the top lacrosse players in Saints history, ranking among the all-time leaders in several categories. She is currently third in career goals with 149, fifth in points with 184 and fourth in draw controls with 107.
Following her playing career, Pesce served as a Graduate assistant with the Limestone Lady Saints in 2009 before coaching a first-year lacrosse program and assistant teaching Special Education in Spartanburg, S.C. In 2010, she moved back to her hometown and obtained a teaching and field hockey coaching position in Babylon, N.Y., before being hired at IUP.
Pesce is a 2008 graduate of Limestone in Gaffney, S.C., earning her bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies. She is currently in the Master's of Education program at IUP with an emphasis on Secondary English Education.
