Avery Moore

Avery Moore begins her first season as the head coach of the IUP women's volleyball program in February of 2025, after being named the programs tenth head coach on January 28.
 

"We are very excited to welcome Avery Moore to the Crimson Hawk Family as our women's volleyball coach", said Garzarelli.  "After a national search, Avery rose to the top of the candidate pool. Her core values, approach to building a team culture and immediate success as a young head coach impressed the committee. We look forward to Avery continuing to build on the current success of the program and taking us to the next level". 
 

Moore the reigning Mountain East Coach of the Year, joins the Crimson Hawks after spending the 2024 season at West Virginia State University as the head coach. Before that, she was an assistant coach at the University of Charleston for a season. Prior to her college coaching career, Moore spent two seasons coaching club volleyball and volunteered as a high school coach.
 
"It is with great joy to announce that I am joining the IUP family as the head women's volleyball coach", Moore said. "I am thrilled to continue building on the program's success and am excited for competition on an elite level in the PSAC. I have already felt the warm and local welcome from Indiana and look forward to creating meaningful relationships with the team, campus, community, and alumni in the near future. Go Hawks!"
 
At West Virginia State University, she guided the team to a Mountain East Conference Title for the first time in program history and the team finished as semi-finalists in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Tournament. Moore was recognized as the MEC Coach of the Year, with five players earning All-MEC honors, and three players named to the Atlantic Region Second Team.
 

Prior to WV State, she spent a season as an assistant coach at the University of Charleston where she helped the team achieve a 24-10 overall record and a second-place finish in the MEC (11-4). Five players were All-MEC selections and she led the strength and conditioning program for the team.
 
While at Charleston, Moore earned her master's degree in strategic leadership and assisted with coaching the Vantage Volleyball Club's U18 team.
 

Prior to that, she worked as a long-term physical education substitute teacher at Palo Duro High School, where she helped with the volleyball team's practices. Avery began her coaching career as the head coach for the Jet Volleyball Club's U14 team in 2022.
 
After college, Moore served as an event coordinator for the Amarillo Botanical Gardens for a year.
 

Moore played at DII Lubbock Christian University from 2017-21 and was her team's captain in her junior and senior seasons. She earned three First Team All-Conference selections and won the conference championship in 2019. Moore was also named most valuable player in 2021. Avery is a 2021 graduate of Lubbock Christian University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in organizational communication.
