Katie Pennewill joins the IUP Crimson Hawks Women’s Volleyball staff for the upcoming 2017-2018 season.  She is currently enrolled as a full-time graduate student at IUP and is working towards an MS in Sport Studies.  Pennewill serves as a graduate assistant within the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Science as well. Prior to coming to IUP, Pennewill graduated cum laude from The University of Tampa (UT) with a degree in sport management in December of 2016. 
 
After graduating from UT, Pennewill began graduate school at IUP in the spring of 2017.  Along with being a full-time student, she was a student worker in the Memorial Field House weight room and also served as a part-time graduate assistant in the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Science.  Outside of IUP, Pennewill coached the ninth grade girls’ volleyball team at Indiana Area High School.  She served as the team’s head coach for the Spring 2017 season.
 
Pennewill started her volleyball coaching career while at UT where she assistant coached club volleyball with the Tampa Bay ONE Volleyball Club from 2014-2016.   In her final year at UT in 2016, she served as the head coach for a middle school volleyball team at Tampa Preparatory School. 
 
In addition to Pennewill’s coaching experience while in Tampa, she served as a student assistant in the Sports Information Department and a student worker for the UT volleyball team from 2013-2016.  As a sport management student, Pennewill completed several internships as well, including ones with the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Harrisburg Senators in 2016.
 
Pennewill is from Dallastown, Pa., where she played volleyball for Dallastown Area High School and the York YMCA Volleyball Club.  She graduated with honors from Dallastown in 2013.
