AJ DeSousa

DeSousa is in his first year at IUP as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach while also serving as a graduate assistant in the Department of Exercise Science.

DeSousa works directly with the Crimson Hawks' men's basketball, women's lacrosse and men's golf programs while assisting with football and other Olympic sports. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

A 2026 graduate of Ohio Northern University, DeSousa earned a Bachelor of Science degree in strength and conditioning with a minor in exercise physiology. He was a four-year letter winner and three-year starting cornerback for the Polar Bears football program before transitioning into collegiate strength and conditioning.

Following his playing career, DeSousa returned to Ohio Northern as an intern strength and conditioning coach, working directly with the football program while assisting with the university's other 24 varsity sports. He previously completed a strength and conditioning internship with the Polar Bears during the spring of 2025.

In the summer of 2025, DeSousa served as an intern strength and conditioning coach with the University of Miami football program. He also gained experience as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Trinity Preparatory School in Orlando, Florida.
