Stephen Hamill

Stephen Hamill was named the eighth head field hockey coach in Indiana University of Pennsylvania history in April 2026.

Hamill arrived at IUP after serving as head coach at Queen's University Belfast in Northern Ireland from 2022-26. During his tenure, he led the program while helping develop student-athletes on and off the field. He also served as an assistant coach at Campbell College Belfast.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Hamill served as head coach of the U-15 team at Royal Belfast Academical Institution from 2024-26 and worked as a regional coach with the Ulster Hockey U-13 through U-16 program from 2023-26.

Hamill has worked alongside former Olympian Mark Gleghorne and has professional ties to former IUP head coach Rutger Weise, who guided the Crimson Hawks to three NCAA Final Four appearances during his tenure from 2003-09.

As a player, Hamill represented Ireland at the U-16 and U-18 levels, gaining international experience that has shaped his coaching philosophy and player development approach.

Hamill earned a bachelor's degree in history from Queen's University Belfast in 2022 before completing a master's degree in sports coaching from Ulster University in 2025.
