Young is entering his first full season as a volunteer assistant coach with the Crimson Hawks.
Prior to coaching, he played professional basketball in Germany for two seasons.
An IUP alum, he played for the Crimson Hawks from 2007-2010, joining the team after playing two years at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) from 2005-2007. While at IUP, he received All-American honors in the 2009-2010 season, leading the team to a 33-3 record and a national championship appearance for the first time in school history. He was the 2009-10 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Player of the Year and first team All-PSAC selection.
He started in 64 games for the Crimson Hawks, finishing his career at IUP with 902 points and 376 rebounds.
Young is a native of Philadelphia and is the only child to Phyllis Young, to whom he credits his basketball knowledge.
