Junior field hockey player Ericka Griffith has been named an IUP Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 12. Griffith helped the field hockey team to a 1-1 week, including a 5-2 victory at Slippery Rock on Friday night. The junior midfielder led the Crimson Hawks with seven points in those two games, scoring two goals and assisting on three others. Altogether, she had a hand in five of IUP's nine goals on the week.
 
Griffith's two goals both came in a 6-4 loss at Mercyhurst on Wednesday, while all three assists came at Slippery Rock. It was her first career multi-goal and multi-assist games. The nine goals for the Crimson Hawks over the last two games are the most over a two-game stretch since scoring nine against Bloomsburg and Bellarmine back in Oct. 2013.
 
Griffith is tied for first on the team with eight points this year and is second on IUP and tied for eighth in the conference with four assists.
