IUP Drops PSAC West Opener at Mansfield on Overtime Goal

Jillian Duld scored her first career goal for the Crimson Hawks

Final Stats

IUP scored two goals less than three minutes apart to take a second half lead, but Mansfield tied it up midway through the period and then won it in the second overtime by a score of 3-2 Tuesday afternoon.

The game was the PSAC West opener for both teams and left the Crimson Hawks 1-3 overall while the Mountaineers improved to 2-4.

IUP trailed 1-0 at halftime after a penalty stroke goal by Jillian Richards but evened the score when freshman Jillian Duld (Allentown/Parkland) tallied her first career goal at the 44:52 mark of the second half. Just 2:23 later, Anouk Sickman (Antwerp, Belgium/Lazac Cellepe) scored for the second time this season to give the Crimson Hawks the lead.

IUP kept the pressure on, outshooting Mansfield 12-6 over the second 35 minutes but could not expand its lead as Mountaineer goalie Jamie Twist made nine saves in the second half. Kristy Tutorow then emerged from a scrum in front of the cage to score the tying goal with 15:38 remaining.

It stayed tied during the first overtime period as Crimson Hawk goalie Lydia Dolly (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) stopped three shots. In the second extra session, however, Tutorow tipped in a shot by Kylie Davis for her second goal of the game to hand IUP the disappointing loss.

Dolly had a total of 10 saves for IUP while Twist stopped 11 shots for Mansfield. The Crimson Hawks held a 20-16 advantage in shots, but Mansfield held the edge in penalty corners, 16-10. Duld led IUP with six shots, and Sickman and Shannon Sullivan (Pittsburgh/North Allegheny) both had five.

IUP finishes a three-game road stretch Saturday at Millersville beginning at 6 p.m. The Crimson Hawks return home a week from Wednesday for a 4 p.m. PSAC West game vs. Shippensburg.
