IUP Loses to Top-Ranked Shippensburg in PSAC West Contest

Bre White scored two goals to lead Shippensburg to a 3-1 victory over IUP in a PSAC West contest Wednesday at Miller Stadium.

The Lady Raiders, ranked No. 1 in the Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll, remained undefeated at 7-0 and 2-0 in the PSAC West. The Crimson Hawks dropped to 2-4 and 0-2 in the division.

Anouk Sickman (Antwerp, Belgium/Lazac Cellepe) scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season to get IUP on the board with 14:49 remaining in the game. She had an opportunity to bring the Crimson Hawks another goal closer but was wide on a hard shot from the top of the circle with just over five minutes left.

White and Kristina Taylor scored first half goals to stake the Lady Raiders to a 2-0 halftime lead. White added her second goal of the game 15 minutes into the second half to make it a 3-0 contest.

Shippensburg held a 12-9 lead in shots but IUP had the better of the play in the second half, taking seven shots to only three for the Lady Raiders. Lydia Dolly (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) made seven saves for the Crimson Hawks, and Ciarra Delost stopped two shots for Shippensburg.

IUP is at Mercyhurst for another PSAC West game Saturday and hosts Bellarmine Sunday at 1 p.m.
