INDIANA, PA – Melissa Kornock (Hatfield/North Penn)'s goal in the 87th minute tied the score at two-apiece and the Crimson Hawks controlled the ball offensively for the remainder of the game as 15th-ranked IUP finished in a 2-2 draw with third-ranked Cal in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) women's soccer matchup between the top two teams in the region.

The game was played in wet and muddy conditions after consecutive days of rain in Indiana, resulting in an uneventful first half.

The Vulcans (7-0-2, 5-0-2) did score the half's lone goal in just the 8th minute, as Breeanna Robinson found the top left corner of the net off a pass from Erin Hogan. Cal did dominate the ball offensively, putting up eight shots, but Kelly Brennan (Middletown/Middletown) was big in goal, saving four of those.

The play began to heat up in the second half with tougher play from both teams, but Cal was able to extend its lead in the 55th minute when Carley Work knocked in a shot to put the Vulcans up by two, seemingly in control of the game.

But back came the Crimson Hawks, as Kornock found Heather Robbins (Frederica, DE/Polytech) streaking down the middle of the field for the a score just 51 seconds later to bring IUP back to within one.

Neither team was able to get a good look at the net for the next 26 minutes, however Work received her second yellow card of the match, giving the Crimson Hawks a player advantage for the rest of the game. Less than five minutes later, after controlling the ball offensively, IUP tied the score when Robbins returned the favor, finding Kornock for the tying score with just 3:07 left to play.

IUP got off four shots through the two overtime periods, none closer than in the 107th minute when Robbins shot from the right side snuck just outside the left post, narrowly missing the go-ahead score and upset-clinching victory.

Brennan went the entire 110 minutes in goal, playing big with five saves.

The Crimson Hawks (7-1-2, 5-1-2) return to the pitch on Wednesday when they travel to Millersville to face the Marauders. They're next home game is on October 11 when they host Slippery Rock.
