INDIANA, PA - Shannon Sullivan (Pittsburgh/North Allegheny) scored two goals and added an assist, as eighth-ranked IUP defeated Mansfield 4-2 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division field hockey matchup at George P. Miller Stadium on Saturday.

Prior to the game, the Crimson Hawks celebrated Senior Day, as the team recognized three seniors: Sarah Burke (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack), Jenn Metzler (Sykesville, MD/Century) and Sullivan.

Jillian Duld (Allentown/Parkland) wasted no time, scoring in the first minute for the Hawks, when she found the back of the cage off a rebound from a Sullivan shot. Sullivan then placed the ball in the back end of the cage off a pass from Erin Shirk (Paradise/Pequea Valley), to give the Crimson Hawks a 2-0 at the 9:42 mark.

After going scoreless the rest of the half, Anouk Sickman (Antwerp, Belgium/Lazac Cellepe) put IUP up 3-0 when she fired a rocket into the back of the cage 49 seconds into the second half. Sickman later found Sullivan, who took a dump pass and put it past diving goalie Jamie Twist, to give IUP a 4-0 lead.

The Mountaineers didn't go down without a fight, as Kristyn Grunz put Mansfield on the board with an unassisted goal at the 49:51mark. Then at the 65:56 mark, Brianna Velepec passed it off to Taryn Schawillie, who scored to make it 4-2.

Goalkeeper Sarah Lemiux played 35 minutes of scoreless and action-less minutes in the first half, while Brittany Varacallo (New Britain/Central Bucks South) had two saves in the second half. The Crimson Hawks continue their home stand against No. 2 Shippensburg on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at Miller Stadium.
