IUP secured its third straight 20-win season behind a double-double from senior
Darryl Webb (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) to lift the Crimson Hawks to an 88-49 victory over Lock Haven Wednesday night at Memorial Field House.
The win sets up a showdown with Mercyhurst for the PSAC West title. The Crimson Hawks will host the Lakers at Memorial Field House Saturday at 7:30.
IUP took a slim30-25 advantage into the locker room but used a 28-9 run to open the second half and hold a 60-34 lead with 10:45 to play.
Ashton Smith (Scarborough, ON/West Hill Collegiate) led all scorers with 14 points and is now just 10 shy of reaching the 1,000 point plateau. Smith also added five rebounds and four assists.
Darryl Webb (Elkridge, Md./Long Reach) posted his 13th double-double of the season and the 51st of his career with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Webb has rewritten the IUP record books and moved into seventh in PSAC history with 1147 rebounds. Webb also tied the school record for games played with 119.
Marcel Souberbielle (Montevideo, Uruguay/Uruguayan American School) recorded his first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.
Willi Estrella (Santiago, Dominican Republic/Escuela sto Hermano Miguel) chipped in 13 points and nine boards and
Kevin Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa./Academy Park) added 11 points and five helpers.
IUP (20-5, 11-2 PSAC West) held a 65-35 advantage on the glass and used that edge to score 31 second chance points to the Bald Eagles (1-23, 0-13) six.
