LOCK HAVEN, PA – Early goals by Jillian Duld (Allentown/Parkland) and Danielle Edwards helped IUP get out to a quick lead as the fifth-ranked Crimson Hawks defeated Mansfield 3-2 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division matchup played Tuesday night in Lock Haven.

The Crimson Hawks, 4-0 overall, are now tops in the PSAC West with a 2-0 mark.

Duld got IUP on the board just 4:36 into the game, knocking one off the goalie's pads for the 1-0 lead. It didn't take Edwards long to put the Crimson Hawks up by two, getting a pass from Duld and breaking through the defense for the score just 1:07 later.

Exactly two minutes after IUP's second score, Mansfield's Kristy Tutorow tipped one in at 7:43 to bring the Mountaineers deficit to one.

The early scoring continued, as Anouk Sickman (Antwerp, Belgium/Lazac Cellepe) knocked in her fourth goal of the year 24 seconds later to put the Crimson Hawks back up by two at 3-1.

The longest scoreless streak of the early part of the first half ended at 13:07, when Taryn Schawillie knocked one in after a Brittany Varacallo (New Britain/Central Bucks South) save.

Varacallo then helped shut down Mansfield for the remainder of the second half, keeping the Mountaineers scoreless as IUP went into the locker room up 3-2.

Splitting time in the cage, Sarah Lemieux (Dublin, OH/Dublin Coffman) entered in the second half, shutting out Mansfield for 35 minutes, notching three saves. The Mountaineers had two chances at the end of the game, getting two penalty corners in the final 46 seconds but were unable to find an open shot.

The Crimson Hawks will face a pair of tough tests this weekend, as they host No. 7 Kutztown (3-0) on Friday and No. 2 West Chester (2-0) on Saturday at George P. Miller Stadium.
