Box Score

KUTZTOWN, PA -  Nicole Bruce (Clarks Summit/Lackawanna Trail) led the No. 5 Crimson Hawks with two goals and an assist  with their 5-2 field hockey victory over No. 10 Kutztown on Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.

Scoring for both teams came in the second half of play, finding the hole in the net first was Bruce who tipped it in off the corner from Jillian Duld (Allentown/Parkland) at the 37:42 minute mark. Four minutes later Dani Edwards (Milford/Delaware Valley) scored for the Hawks three yards out after a pass from Bruce. The Crimson Hawks continued to attack goalie Karly Waltman with shots from Anouk Sickman (Antwerp, Belgium/Lazac Cellepe) and Bruce.

The Golden Bears weren't able to score until the 46:50 mark with a goal from Emily Labowitch to make it 2-1, IUP would answer back with a goal from Ashley Mosner (Newton, NJ/Newton) to put the Hawks back up by two. Kutztown would put themselves within one with goal from Jenna Gregory at the 51:15 mark, but Bruce would go on to score her second goal of the game in front of the net off a zinger from Sickman to put the Hawks up 4-1. It would be Duld who put the nail in the coffin for the Hawks with a goal off a save in front of the net to make it 5-2.

The Hawks defense once again was the main factor in the game, limiting the Golden Bears to only seven shots, four of which were on goal the entire game. Neither team had any shots in the first half of play and all 27 shots for the Hawks came in the second half.

The Hawks are now 5-2 and 2-0 in the conference with the win over Kutztown. The No. 5 Crimson Hawks with host No. 1 ranked Shippensburg under the lights at George P. Miller Stadium on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
