Swim Teams Sweep Monmouth in Florida

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – The IUP men's and women's swimming teams had a successful Wednesday afternoon as the Crimson Hawks put together a pair of easy wins over Monmouth College in Florida.
 
The dual meet was a part of IUP's winter training schedule as the women won 135.5 to 31.5 while the men won 118 to 49.
 
The IUP women had winners in all nine events, including both relays while the men took seven events.
 
Multiple event winners included Allyson Mitidieri (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) and Taylor Snyder (Titusville, Pa. /Titusville) for the women and Alex Cummings (Altoona/Altoona) for the men. Mitidieri won the 100 IM with a time of 1:03.72 and in the 50 breast with a time of 31.73. Snyder's wins came in the 50 and 100 free, posting times of 24.89 and 56.41, respectively. Cummings victories also came in the 100 IM with a time of 56.31 and the 50 breast with a time of 28.22.
 
Mitidieri and Cummings also swam legs on their respective 200 medley relay teams while Snyder added to IUP's 200 free relay win.
 
Also picking up wins for the women were Gabby Guttman (Allentown/Salisbury) in the 200 free, Ally Long (Frederick, MD/Frederick) in the 50 back and Ashley McAteer (Irwin/Penn-Trafford) in the 50 fly. Other winners for the men included Brandon Hopkins (Marion, VA/Marion) in the 200 free, Conrad Kubaney (Erie/Mercyhurst Prep) in the 50 back and Steve Long (Greensburg/Hempfield) in the 50 fly.
 
IUP returns to the pool back in Indiana, hosting Bloomsburg and Shippensburg in the Crimson Hawk Dual Invite on January 25 and 26.
